Our Patients tell the story best

Are You a Candidate for Porcelain Veneers?

Most patients who have cosmetic smile problems qualify for porcelain veneers, provided they’re in good oral health. Veneers don’t correct functional issues with teeth, such as a bad bite (malocclusion), but they are a great option if you have any of these problems with your “smile zone,” aka front teeth:

It Only Takes Two Visits...

Your First Visit
Receiving porcelain veneers is a highly individualized process that typically takes two visits. For the best aesthetics, veneers must both hide problematic teeth and create a healthy, natural, and consistent appearance. During your first appointment, Dr. Ackley will remove a small amount of tooth enamel from the front of your teeth. This will help ensure that your custom dental veneers—slender coatings of durable porcelain that shine like real teeth—will fit naturally and comfortably over your existing teeth. Next, he’ll take impressions of your modified teeth, which we’ll use to hand-design your veneers to the optimal size, shape, and color. Depending upon your individual needs, Dr. Ackley can even provide you with no-prep veneers in a single visit!

Your Second, and Final, Visit
When your custom veneers are ready, you’ll return to our Lansing, MI office for a second appointment, during which Dr. Ackley will confirm the final fit of your veneers and then bond them securely to your teeth. Veneers don’t require any special maintenance, nor will they stain like natural teeth, but you should continue brushing and flossing regularly as directed. The enduring result of your treatment will be dental veneers that complement the surrounding teeth and even your facial features and skin tone. Your smile will look healthy, whole, and beautiful again!
